around here on Instagram

From ballet to blossom.

From Jamie Oliver cook book obsession to the 1st Judo tournament silver medal.

From dinner with friends to dinner for 2 for our 10th wedding anniversary.

From visiting our neighborhood 'Little Free Library' to loving blue skies.

This is life around here, via my Instagram.

Hope your week is going well.

easter sunday around here

What a fabulous sunny Easter weekend here in Portland.  Clear blue skies.  Sunshine.  The first use of the grill outside in the garden for dinner Saturday and Sunday evening.  Perfect.

And, the Easter Bunny did her job well.  50+ eggs very well hidden = the Huzz and I getting a little extra Sunday morning lie in whilst the kiddos searched high and low throughout the house and garden for plastic eggs filled with chocolate treats.  A few yells of "Can you help us." and a flat "No" from us encouraged them to keep searching until the final few couldn't be found (and we were struggling to remember ourselves!).  And ... ah ha.... the last one was found in the fridge!

My favorite little white wooden Easter bunnies and chicks.

Hope you had a lovely weekend filled with chocolate treats and celebrating Easter just how you like to.

spring break, so far

Scenes from the first couple of days of our Spring Break....

Daffs are a sure sign that Spring has sprung.

A little early mini chocolate egg indulgence!

Lots of Harvey walking to the parks and getting him to part with rather large sticks!

Great lookout!  This little girl is fearless.

First day this year at the coast.

A bit of big brother tackling going on here!

One man and his dog.
Harvey's first day on a beach.
What couldn't he love - digging holes, running, splashing, eating seaweed!

Always something new to do and find at the beach.
Trying to pull a huge pile of sea kelp up the beach (as you do!).

spring zing

What a fabulous sunny day we are having - 2 in a row - whoop whoop!

I really feel like I have a spring in my step.  Yesterday a lady stopped her car by me as I was walking along.  "Excuse me.  I wanted to tell you that you look really lovely".  Seriously!  That lady really made my day.  Seems that a little sunshine makes the world a much happier place.

So my thoughts have been turning to a little spring zing in the house.  I recently purchased these lovely cushions which are now adding a splash of sunshine to the living room.

Windows and doors are flung open today.  I love getting a fresh breeze through the house (although I can now see how much the windows need a good clean!).

And these goreous yellow mini-chrysanthemums are sitting in the kitchen.

Hope you have a bright and sunny weekend, whatever you may be up to.

spring pickings

We haven 't quite got a spring in our step yet, but it doesn't stop me starting a wish list of things to add to my wardrobe to brighten up any day.

New Converse in sunshine yellow are top of my list (and just ordered online!)

 yellow converse...

This great green tunic from Gap.

This multi-coloured tunic from Boden.

A little apple print crewneck from JCrew.

Ruby's has been browsing too "I want something more pretty" was her comment
when I'd chosen something she felt wasn't pretty enough!

This very cute Boden swimsuit and
towelling beach dress will now be added to her wardrobe.
She's starting swimming lessons next week so we'll be prepared.  Cute eh.

Wishing you a bright spring like weekend ahead. Hope its a good one.

morning walk

The third day in a row of blue skies and sunshine!  Yay!  I know its only 3 days, and not so exciting for those of you who have months of this kind of weather, but we do appreciate the smaller share of the sun we get here you know!

Days like this make you want to get out early and enjoy every minute.  Ruby and I did just that.  A walk to feed the new ducklings (so cute and fluffy, and not too afraid of Ruby pelting them with handfuls of bread!).  Me stopping to photograph the neighbourhood blossom.  And a stop at the cafe by the park for a coffee and hot chocolate.  This cafe always has lovely displays of flowers or huge bowls of fruits outside throughout the year.  And we enjoyed our drinks sitting in the sunshine before our trek (10 mins through the park!) back home.

Wishing you a great weekend ahead.  Hopefully we'll spend most of it outdoors.

yellow

Loving the splash of yellow around now for spring.  A great lift to an outfit.

A little shopping trip into Brighton at the weekend found me drawn towards these two items, now added to my wardrobe (and I'm sure there will be more).

Inwear - cotton crinkle scarf

Toast - white silver and yellow necklace

And I might just add this dress soon too.

Asos

Let the sunshine in!
