A favourite blog

Have you come across this blog "Missed Connections"?

I really enjoy looking at the drawings and paintings by Sophie Blackall, a Brooklyn based Australian artist.

Sophie captures in her art the anoymous messages people leave on missed connections websites in their hope of tracing someone they saw, spoke to, sat next to etc, someplace, somewhere.  All are looking to make that connection again.  All hopeful.

This is one of my recent favourites.   Take a look ... I'm sure they'll be a few that you love too.

When I put your coat collar up to protect you from the cold...
on the corner of E Houston and Bowery...
and I looked in your eyes...
I was very tempted to kiss you...
but I don't steal women from other men...

still...
I was tempted...

Sophie Blackall also has an Etsy shop where you can purchase prints, and occasionally original pieces of her artwork.

  2. The drawings are simple but unusual, has a certain purity about them. She must be an amazing lady to use her talent to give hope to others

  3. Wow. I love that idea. The artwork isn't really my thing although I can appreciate her talent. I sometimes read the pages in Time Out (London What's on magazine- sure you know) where people leave similar messages. People making eye contact on the tube, on the escalator, just for a brief second.I often wonder if they ever meet up again. It would be a good subject for a short story. Etsy is my downfall. Mustn't go on there.

Thank you for sharing, I'll be investigating after I've finished soaking in the delights of your space,
