This week's CV is 'Repurposed - one object in your house that you've found another use for.'
Seems my eco-friendliness isn't quite up to scratch! I searched around, really I did, but couldn't find anything that had had a different purpose in its former life. I thought I'd failed miserably this week.
Then.... I remembered this. It's not quite repurposed, but it has been around for 42 years and has now been used by 3 separate children, so maybe it can be counted as having another useage (no ?).
This little rocker was mine at aged 1 yr - a gift from my Aunty Carol. It used to be covered in burgundy and black check fabric which over the years became so worn. And I obviously used to have a good scratch at the wooden arms which are scarred with all manner of lines.
When my son Luca was born, my mum had it recovered for him in this blue cord Ikea fabric. He's had loads of fun rocking back and forth (and falling off !). Now its the turn of my little girl Ruby. She likes to climb up and think she's all grown up sitting there with a book babbling away. I may add a girly touch and sew on some little flowers for her. Maybe it will even get passed onto my grandchildren (yikes) one day.

ReplyDeletewell, there you go, then. :)
ReplyDeleteVery sweet little chair (it was no easy corner view) , think a few wee flowers, owls or elephants for Ruby would look fantastic. Kids love little chairs that fit them don't they!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute chair. With lovely memories attached.
ReplyDeleteAnd Miffy looks at home on it.
wow Love the stool and the bunny is a pillow isn't it? ;-)
ReplyDeletea cute little rocker full of memories ...
ReplyDeleteIt's not important if it's not repurposed... it's cute... a time machine ;)
ReplyDeleteX-cuse me!! 42 year??? You're good! I always thought Nijntje was cute, but this stool is even cuter. Such beautiful memories. Have a great day, X.

ReplyDeleteIt's a good one! I think sometimes we live with our repurposed things for so long that we forget they are repurposed!
ReplyDeleteOh, it's so cute!! Love the fabric. It shows the wood off nicely. The MODgirls are using my rocker from my childhood. It's so fun to see those things loved by your own little ones.
ReplyDeleteoh, this rocker is a very fantastic "collector" , as we say here !!!
ReplyDeleteWow. That is a beautiful and precious repurposed item!
ReplyDeletePerfect! It has a beautiful story. I had trouble, too, this week!
ReplyDeleteHee, hee. It is a re-purposed item. You used it to sit in (as did your son) and your Ruby uses it to stand on, making you worry that she'll fall. The rocking chair is in good shape - that's a lot of rocking over the years.
ReplyDeleteHappy Corner View day.
What a timeless object! No need to repurpose it, just keep it and love it (and add little flowers appliques:))
