Mad about Mad Men

I've been ODing on 'Mad Men'.  I requested the box set of Season 1 and 2 as a Christmas pressie from my sister and I'm loving it - the story lines, the clothes, the style, the colours.  All fantastic.  I've been watching them night after night, without having to wait a whole week to find out what happens next - the best way!

Its the women I love in this show. How curveceaous and sexy is Joan?  The hips, the hair, the breasts that arrive in the room way before the rest of her.  And how oh so pretty and perfect is Betty?  And how about Peggy on her power trip as copywriter?  And the clothes, oh the clothes!  Wow!   They remind me so much of the dresses I've seen my mum wearing in photographs of her in her early 20s.  She had a private dressmaker and always looked stunning.

You have to check out the amctv website - they've done such a fantastic job with stuff about the show.  Interviews with cast, a fashion file with pics of the gorgeous clothes, even a guide to 1960s cocktails.  And there's a 'Mad Men Yourself' where you make an online 'you' and pick everything from the hair, eyes, lips, dress, shoes, bag, cocktail or cigarette (so Mad Men) and save it as a download or screen saver.  Go try it out. I'm sure you'll enjoy.

Now its time for me to freshen up, slip into a slinkly little dress and heels, and get my pre-dinner cocktail ready.  I'll keep the children oh so perfectly clean and quiet and await my husband's return from a stressful day at the office - poor darling!  So Mad Men don't you think?

I'm only halfway through Season 2 so don't tell me anything more please!

  3. I bet you're getting sick of me saying 'Me Too!' but yes, yes, yes I love Mad Men!! Everything stops in our house when it is on. Np plot spoilers from me. Hurry up and catch up so we can discuss. (currently about 5 episodes in in Series 3).

It's utterly riveting plot wise...and the clothes, the clothes. I've asked you a question about copyright on your last post - please email me or leave a comment on mine - cos I'm writing one about dresses - and Mad Men is mentioned!

  10. Hi Victoria - Thanks for stopping by my corner view at Passage Paradis and commenting! I like yours very much - especially the last two (Kauai and your house with the groovy Xmas wreath!)

Here in L.A. the Mad Men look is HUGE it is not to be believed. Always fun to "dress up" at least while we're sitting dreaming on the sofa!

  12. LOVE Mad Men! We're now halfway through season 3 in the UK and it gets better and better. Think they'll have to stop if soon, though (sob) as it's already 1963, and can you picture Don, Pete or Roger Stirling with Beatles' mop tops? Or Betty without her pointy brassiere?
