making friends

Ruby is missing her friends from NL.  All those little girls she used to run around with, make tea-parties, share cookies, fight over one thing, and then hug and carry on playing once again.  I'm not sure whether showing her photographs of them all still having fun together back in NL is too sad for her or whether it keeps her memories of the fun they had together alive?

But Ruby is not one to hang around!  We visit a park almost every day.  On the way she will ask 'Will there be friends there?'.  Just as soon as we arrive, and she spies other children, she calls out 'Shall we be friends?' and that's it.  More often than not she runs off with someone new, playing hide-and-seek, up and down the slide, laughing and playing.  And when it comes to going home, she ALWAYS says 'Would you like to come to my house?'.  I don't think it will be too long until she has another litle group of friends to share her days with.

If only it were that easy for all of us.

  1. What a wonderful skill to have! I'm not good at making friends and am so jealous of people who are able to do this. Good for her!

  2. Hi - awww I hope she doesn't miss them too much. I see this a lot when children move schools. It need not be that far away to make them realise that they've moved on. I think (brutally) that you have to make the break. Start fresh...ekkk...it's hard but in the long run better. Lou x

  5. She's so adorable! Isn't it amazing how easy it is for children, and how difficult for adults, this making of new friends? My daughter does the same thing. Everytime we go somewhere new she makes friends right away.
P.S. Let me know when you will be available for tea or coffee, Victoria.

  6. Brave girl! It's amazing when a child does that. Eddie is very shy about new friends, though he desperately wants them to play with him. I hope all Ruby's new friends at your house soon!
