salt & straw ice-cream delights

My friend Jill and I visited Salt & Straw last week.  One of those places where the rumours are spreading about the amazing ice-cream they are producing.   Incredible flavours are made in small batches from local organic and sustainable ingredients, blended with select flavours from across the world.  Who could resist trying the thick and creamy delights of Honey & Lavender, Coffee & Cocoa Nibs, Arbequine Olive Oil?  All absolutely delicious.

We started with a Stumptown coffee to kick-start us as the day which had already been busy a busy one by 11am! And then got on with the serious task of ice-cream tasting (well, someone's got to do it haven't they!).  The guy behind the counter offered us tastings of so many wonderful and interesting flavours (many of which you could never have dreamed up) that if we hadn't told him to stop he wouldn't have made a sale to us!  But we did indeed purchase a 'Tasting' selection to share - Pear with Blue Cheese, Rhubarb Crumble with Toasted Anise, Sea Salt & Caramel Ribbons and Strawberry Honey Balsamic with Black Pepper.  My oh my!  I can see how this place will become a favourite very quickly

A little video showing all the good things offered at Salt & Straw.

With a bakery on site, Salt & Straw is open from 7am, so a great early morning breakfast stop on the way to work and even an early morning ice-cream indulgence!

Do you have a favourite ice-cream flavour?  Anything out of the ordinary?

Wishing you a great weekend.
