affogato

This has been my dessert saviour a couple of times recently when friends have stopped by and we've ended up enjoying dinner together and then I've realised that I've nothing for dessert (apart from some good icecream in the freezer).

Easy.  All you need is

Strong Espresso + Good Icecream = Affogato (Italian for "drowned").

Serve good size scoops of vanilla icecream/gelato in a glass.  Pour hot espresso over the iceceam.  Add a dash of something stronger like Amaretto liqueur if you like, or chocolate or coffee icecream for a twist.  Serve with biscotti or amaretti cookies.  Perfecto!
