We have a new cafe in town. 'Coffee Lovers' on the lower ground of a big new book shop. It's become my new favourite place for a cappuccino - the best there is in town. The froth is so thick the spoon stands up tall on its own.
I've been longing for a good cafe for so long. Having been spoilt by the quality and choice living in Portland, USA, in Florence, Italy and London, I've really felt that we were missing out here. Yes, we have loads of cafes, offering various kinds of nice dutch style coffees, but nothing that has quenched my thirst for, what I would say, was great coffee.
And my 'Coffee Companions' these past couple of visits to 'Coffee Lovers' have been my Luca and Ruby. Guess why... they make a 'Malteser Milk' or 'Milky Way Milk' and Luca is crazy about it. Hot milk all frothy with either a whole bag of Maltesers (small packet, not family size!) or double Milky Way popped in, all melty, sweet, chocolately and delicous! Sounds good eh (don't think too much about the calories!). Its a real treat for him (although I do try to get a least one spoonful!). And the location of this coffee bar is perfect, right next to the children's book section, so Luca can go off and find himself some books and play on the interactive screens. And the reason Ruby is so enthusiastic about being my companion also, is because there's a huge Nijntje there, bigger than Ruby, that she loves to hug and sit on.
All the while, I'm relaxing with my cappuccino and magainze (not). More like running around after Ruby who is taking every other book of the shelf and waddling off around the shop. Still, the coffee is good and my companions are adorable, and that's all that matters,
Enjoy your coffee (or tea) today.
thank you for the visit! and now, i want a coffee like this! :)
ReplyDeletethat place sounds wonderful! i'm so jealous!
ReplyDeleteWonderful place. I want to give that gigantic Miffy a cuddle, too. And a magazine and a cappuccino, oh yeah...
ReplyDeleteA nice place ! I agreee ! Sometimes it's very hard to find a good coffee !
ReplyDeleteNice place and good looking coffee
ReplyDeletesounds like a great place... you´ve lived in some serious coffee towns:)
ReplyDeleteNice place: entertainment for the kids AND magazines for you:)
ReplyDeleteThat Malteser/Milky way drink sounds scrummy for the kids - wouldn't mind one myself. Your Ruby is so sweet - love the green clip in her hair and the shearling trimmed gilet. And has Luca discovered hair gel? So has my boy.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly believe I went off coffee when I was pregnant. The smell of it made me queasy. But now back on it with a vengeance.I could probably buy a posh coffee machine with the amount I spend on it per week but finding somewhere nice and the atmosphere is all part of it. If you're ever in Brighton, let me know and I'll take you to my favourite coffee haunts. (Thanks for lovely comment on my post
today).
