Corner View 'Front Door'

Front door.  Well, I do love my own front door - dark blue, with a round port-hole that opens so you can say 'Boo' through it and give visitors a bit of a shock, or the kiddos can keeping calling 'Bye Papa' as he leaves for work, or through which I can give Huzz a kiss when he comes home.

But this made me think of the many many photographs we have of doors.  Sound a bit unusual?  Well, wherever we've travelled, our eyes are always drawn towards beautiful or interesting doors to other people's homes, hideaways, courtyards, playgrounds, secret gardens etc.  So, I've been ploughing back though the archives to find front doors from our travels to share with you today.

One of many doors at a monestary - Crete, Greece, 2007

Beautiful entrance gates to a school playground - Crete, Greece, 2007

Pastel coloured beach hut doors - Domburg, Netherlands, 2009

Beautifully carved huge wooden doors - Madrid, Spain, 2004

Bright beach hut doors - Luarca, Spain, 2001

The big red doors to the bullring - Pamplona, Spain, 2001

Someone's front door - Kauai, Hawaii, 2005

And finally, here is my front door - Eindhoven, Netherlands, Christmas 2009

  8. Love them all - particularly the pastel beach huts and the trellis work and that verdigris colour on the school gates in Greece. I'm halfway through a photography course at the moment and I've been taking quite a lot of pictures of doors round Brighton but none so beautiful as these. Love your Christmas wreath - very modern and stylish.
