The 40th anniversary of Earth Day will take place tomorrow, 22nd April 2010.
40 years of celebrating our Earth, taking care of it, enjoying it and investing in it for the future. If only this were all true. I've looked to see if we have anything happening locally to get involved with tomorrow, but can find nothing. What a shame.
So what to do for CV this week then? A travel photograph of somewhere on this great Earth that we have as a family been lucky enough to visit and enjoy.
This one jumped out at me.
Small boy. Big tree. Huge vista. One great world out there.
My son Luca was just 2.5 years old when this photograph was taken on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. In his almost 3 years, he had travelled more around the world by plane, train, boat, automobile and bike (he was born in the Netherlands, so I had to include bike of course!) than I had done up to my 20s. How different the lives of our children are these days. How lucky too.
Take care of your small place on Earth. Its for us all to share and enjoy today and for many many years to come.

Oh, what a beautiful picture, and what a lucky boy to do all that traveling. I wonder if he'll remember any of it, but at least he can say he's been to so many places!!!

Happy Earth Day to you, Victoria.
Such a beautiful tree ... and well said. :^)
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean by how the world has changed: Mr6 and Mr3 both have (used) passports. I didn't get my first one until I was 21. My mum got her first at 50. Just goes to show. I hope they enjoy seeing the world as much as I do. I'm hoping to bring them to NL for a year to live in a few years' time. So best we get practising that bike riding...
