cornwall (part I)

First stop Fowey (pronounced Foy / Foi).

A picturesque historic town and seaport on the south coast of Cornwall.  Fowey has little lanes, steep hills, pastel coloured cottages squeezed next to each other and lots of little galleries and local shops.  All this is just a few steps away from the harbour and River Fowey.  A haven for all things nautical - from dingies and canoes to fishing boats, little car ferries and the odd cruiseliner (that somehow manages to squeeze in amongst all the little fishing boats).

Here's a few sights from around this lovely town, the first stop on our Cornish vacation.

  1. Oh, that is so divine. And I am so jealous. One of my dearest friends in the world lives in Cornwall and I've always wanted to visit. But it's a long way from Fibrotown. Hope it was a wonderful vacation.

  4. OMG ... I spent most of my childhood hols in Cornwall and i remember a trip to Fowey. We had to walk up a cliff face in the driving rain and wind and my uncle led the way. I remember being really scared as a kid that it was so dangerous... possibly it was! But we got to the top and into the town and had a cornish pasty I think... best taste ever! xxx

  5. we love Fowey! do the Hall walk - a circular walk from Fowey round to Polruan via Bodninnick. We rent a National Trust cottage at Pont half way round and it is beautiful!
